Very Nice example of a Confederate McElroy Short Artillery Sword. 24.25 inches overall. Bright blade with old signs of well done sharpening. Confederates often sharpened their swords. No pitting or damage, some wonderful casting flaws that you like to see in these swords. Hilt is cast brass with some great casting imperfections. Leather scabbard with brass mounts and a brass drag tip. Frog stud is missing on top scabbard mount. The sword does retain its original washer. The leather version scabbards of McElroy short artillery swords just did not survive. The example has its original leather scabbard and fits perfectly. There is lettering that is carved into the leather scabbard but cannot make out the full name.  A very nice example to add to your Confederate edged weapon collection.
